What it was developed
With the agriBora app, Kenyan Kizito Odhiambo has devised a digital tool for smallholders and farmers in Kenya. The conditions there cannot be compared with those in Europe. The app enables the farmers to exchange ideas with one another and distributes very helpful and sometimes necessary warning notices for cultivating the fields, for example about approaching storms. Providing customers with agricultural data – forecasts, weather data, cultivation recommendations – is one component. The tool is also a sales platform. Farmers have a direct line to cooperatives, wholesalers, seed and fertilizer manufacturers.

The app includes free and paid service offers. It also handles the cashless processing over the phone. Communication takes place via integrated voice messages and SMS in English, Swahili and other national languages such as Luo and Luyha.

From the start there was a clear division of labor. L-One took over the frontend development, agriBORA the backend.

" Our solution was not well visualized  and not easy to grasp for the customer . We are not the experts for this and we also do not have the manpower.  We are  glad  the L-One the surface for us implemented "

Kizito Odhiambo, Gründer und Geschäftsführer von agriBORA

Challenges
The time factor is the greatest challenge for us  – we have to be able to  react quickly. Another challenge is  funding. L-One enables us  to save time, to react quickly and agilely and, thanks to its flexible  design and “start-up understanding”, it can  offer a solution for our budget.

Working with the L-One team in Damascus
Since the time for development was short, Kizito Odhiambo initially had concerns: “ Thanks to the same tools that are used for communication, the onboarding worked well and the teamwork went from the start to uncomplicated. All in all, it worked better than expected. “

Market in East Africa

"L-Ones Offshore Team supports us with the frontend development. Advantage: The time and cost savings. And even more important: we can concentrate on our core competencies. «

Kizito Odhiambo, Gründer und Geschäftsführer von agriBORA

Results, plans for the future
agriBORA gain a time advantage. The employees can concentrate on what they understand: time for the customer, the product idea and the programming in the backend environment. The implementation of the area visible to the users of our web applications, the front end, is implemented by L-One. “We simply lacked the manpower for the front end. The front end that we now have speaks to and contributes solutions that we would never have been able to implement, ”concludes Kitzito Odhiambo.

In connection with agriBORA’s growth, the cooperation with L-One will soon be expanded. That is, the number of working hours and the number of employees on the offshore team are increased.
