Seize digital opportunities now
Expanding or upgrading your own product range – or reducing manufacturing costs – means taking a digital opportunity and a risk at the same time. Driving digitalization forward instead of standing still, yes. But going down previously unknown paths in agile project management?
A development partnership with an experienced software service provider who reliably accompanies a project, offers support and immediate advantages in this situation.
Which advantages? And what does connecting teams look like in practice?
L-One founder and CEO, Lionel Born, and Head of Software Development, Feras Tanan, answer these questions in a five-minute video. We summarise the most important questions and answers.
Lionel Born and Feras Tanan answer questions on how L-One develop innovative software and describe how connected teams can create cutting-edge Software (00:05:53).
(00:00:48) What does the future of IT development look like?
Experienced software developers are hard to recruit. Competition between companies looking for developers has been growing in Germany for years. The solution: connecting remote with in-house teams that accelerate software development1, 2.
Why digitalisation needs to be pushed now is obvious. What we Germans are good at, be it engineering, mechanics or even device development, no longer stands a chance on international markets without a connection to digital ecosystems, without an intelligent inner life.
(00:01:06) How can software development be accelerated? What do local companies need?
A few years ago – our projects and products were growing – we needed additional developer power ourselves. We looked for developers here in Darmstadt. We found Feras (Tanan). You have to be fast in recruiting. You always have to have the best qualified team of developers and that’s why we set up an office in Damascus.
Lionel Born, founder and CEO of L-One Systems, Darmstadt
»The process of reducing costs when manufacturing a product - whether hardware or software - is crucial.«
(00:00:19) Why we work with developers from Damascus University?
Damascus University is one of the largest universities in the Middle East, one of the most prestigious universities with degrees recognised in Germany. The Bachelor’s programme is based on three different departments: Software Engineering, AI and Information Systems.
(00:01:25) What makes us different from a recruiter?
We are not a recruitment agency, but a software company. We know the whole development life cycle of software and that’s how we train our people.
(00:01:31) Why is on-the-job training so important?
We train our people in technical skills, in English skills and make sure they have fluent communication with our clients. We come into our clients’ projects as software development partners.
(00:01:48) How are L-One projects done?
Clients come to us because they know we have highly talented and skilled people. It’s very convenient for our clients because the time difference is only one hour. So they are one hour ahead of us. Compared to other offshore locations, this is very convenient.
Whether you work with in-house or remote developers makes little difference today. The office in Damascus has a very good fibre-optic internet connection.
We don’t just develop frontends and backends, we gather domain-specific knowledge. What our developers do all day goes far beyond programming.
(00:02:34) What makes the L-One developers stand out?
It’s not just about developing the tasks as they come from the client. Our developers also tend to ask the right questions. And go the extra mile.
First and foremost, L-One is a software company. We know what developer or what kind of developer a particular project needs.
Feras Tanan, Head of Software Development at L-One Systems
»Digitisation with a remote team combines an affordable price with high quality. Fixed costs are always under control.«
ABOUT L-ONE SYSTEMS
As a software company, L-One has been delivering world-class software to its customers for more than ten years. L-One Systems was founded with the goal of providing each customer with the exact software developments they need.
We have already connected gardeners with cloud computing, medical writers with natural language processing and remote teams with in-house development.
(00:03:06) What are your favorite projects?
Our favourite projects are those that are long-term. As long-term partners of our clients, our developers have the opportunity to dive deep into our clients’ IT projects and build and share knowledge.
How do the customers benefit from this? (00:03:20)
The client can take away much more from our service than just software development service. For example, we have customers in robotics, where a lot of experience is needed when niche technologies are used. Customers come to us because they know that on the one hand we have highly talented and experienced people. On the other hand, we have a large and versatile team, so we can get into product development very quickly.
The idea was to deliver first-class software from the very beginning. That’s why we needed first-class developers. We therefore increased our staff in Damascus. We are already in our third office because we are a sought-after employer.
(00:03:59) How can emerging companies benefit from L-One?
For young companies and small businesses, it is risky to hire large teams for rapid software development. It is much more affordable and also safer to outsource or contract out whole projects or parts to remote teams.
(00:04:17) How can a company grow with remote developers?
When you want to scale, when you want to hire multiple employees, you face a lot of challenges with HR and with feedback processes. We have the right processes that have been optimized over time. We trust those processes and we have the right people running them.
What we actually offer is contracts with our clients for limited or specific projects.
(00:04:36) What will the future of software development teams look like?
Many companies will outsource software development3. So will connecting external teams with their in-house developments (outstaffing). This is something we can deliver with our team in Damascus.
